Bras du Fort Falls

Waterfall - Goyave

Located near the hamlet of Bonfils in the mountains of the commune of Goyave, the Bras du Fort falls are easy to reach (40 minutes) along the Bras-du-Fort River. This beautiful little hike is rewarded by a swim under a waterfall that has been drawing crowds since the early 20th century. The trail crosses the river several times. This was once a growing area for subsistence crops, in particular bread fruit, medlar, and sweet peas. Enter the forest via a steep and somewhat slippery slope, and follow the river upstream for 10 to 15 minutes. Please note:  the path is not well marked. A lovely pool fed by a beautiful clear-water cascade falling 30 meters. The area is well known to Sunday hikers, great for swimming and picnicking.
