On a small volcanic headland, vestiges of a battery constructed between 1869-1870 are visible, with four pieces of artillery pointing out toward La Baleine pass. The ruins, facing Pain de Sucre mountain, include guardhouses, artillery warehouses, and four powder magazines. Beautiful view. The island’s telephone and radio infrastructures are adjacent to the fort.
