The renovation of Desravin house to create a new Town Hall and the redevelopment of the former town hall were part of the ongoing process of updating current government facilities to better meet the needs of the governed. In front of the building stands a bust of Rémy Nainsouta, Guadeloupian politician (1883-1969). Learned and courageous, Nainsouta passed the examination for veterinary meat inspector in Paris, and made his career in Africa. Returning to Guadeloupe in 1938, he took part in local politics and was elected Mayor of Saint-Claude in 1945.
