Landscape - Pointe-à-Pitre

Entitled “Douvan jou a jôdi la or Mornings of the Present” (2002), this monumental work was created by Guadeloupian visual artist Michel Rovélas. It is situated on the main road to Sainte-Anne-Les Abymes, near the marina and facing the sea. It takes the form of a fragmented, oval-shaped structure in two parts, measuring 52 m. and 35 m., respectively. According to the artist, allusions to the country’s history can be found in the airy coherence of the construction (movement and liberty), resulting in great clarity.
