Le Chameau

All round view - Terre-de-Haut

Culminating at 309 meters, Le Chameau is recognizable from far away by its distinctive shape. It takes a good deal of effort to climb Le Chameau, but what a reward upon reaching the top! After hiking past flapping hummingbirds, dispassionate iguanas, and—with a little luck—agile agoutis (a sort of ground squirrel), pushing on through hibiscus plants, allamanda bushes, and frangipani trees, a 360° view opens up encompassing the entire island, the neighboring island of Terre-de-Bas, and the outlines of Dominica. A former watchtower stands at the summit.
