René Boisneuf Multimedia Library

Architecture - Pointe-à-Pitre

Since 2004, the library has been housed in the former Town Hall, a listed Historic Building, whose paneled former deliberation chamber has been converted into a reading room. The Town Hall was inaugurated on May 5, 1885 in the presence of the mayor, Armand Hanne. The building is made of brick and wood, and the roof is embellished with a carved zinc frieze above the cornice. On the  second floor, French windows open onto the balcony, which features fluted, Ionic-style pilasters supporting the cornice.
