Located at the Valkanaërs traffic circle, the Syndicat d'Initiative welcomes visitors and provides information concerning places to visit in Guadeloupe, the town’s architectural and historical heritage, hikes, and practical matters. It hosts exhibitions and is home to the Musée de la photo (“Photo Museum”). A bust of Louis Delgrès—symbol of resistance to slavery who fought to the death against its reinstatement in 1802—was inaugurated on the grounds on April 27, 2012.
