Sens River Marina

Yatching port - Gourbeyre

The Rivière-Sens area could be considered the cradle of colonization of southern Basse Terre. The first colonists settled here, where the stream empties into the sea, during the time when the seat of government was being established in Guadeloupe. Over the past twenty years, this area has benefited from new infrastructures: the inter-communal marina, with more than 300 berths; the Institut régional de la Pêche et de Marine (IRPM, regional fishing and marine institute), which has provided training in marine professions since 1985; a fishing village; town hall annex; post office; clinic; sailing club; a vacation center; accommodations; and various businesses. A number of ocean-themed events take place here each year, along with many sailing competitions.
