The mystical Dévarieux windmill, with its crucifix in the lintel above the opening stand as testament to the commune’s once booming sugar industry. The mills were constructed in the traditional manner, of stone or limestone rubble held together with mortar made from sand, lime, and traditional cane syrup, their towers rise six to nine meters above their refineries, sails facing east into the trade winds. Several relatively well preserved examples are still visible.  the mystical Dévarieux, with its crucifix in the lintel above the opening.
