A wonderful hike for exploring unusual vegetation, this trail leads to the Mahaudière factory at Porte d’Enfer by way of Anse à la Barque, Pointe du Souffleur, Trou du Souffleur (a sea geyser where waves gush out of a rocky cavity making a whistling sound), and “Trou à Man Coco“ or “Trou Madame Coco“—a wave-carved grotto in the cliff resembling an “underwater house,” where the “chair” and “bathtub” of Man (Madame) Coco (who, according to legend, dwells in the cliffs) become visible each time the waves recede. Allow 5 hours. Have a car waiting at Porte d’Enfer (“Gates of Hell”) to avoid having to repeat the entire hike in reverse.
