Lamentin’s Ciné-Théâtre first opened its doors in 1993. This technically advanced facility (video room configured for 400% image resolution, high-resolution projector, Dolby 7.1 sound system with a state-of-the-art CP750 processor, active 3D technology, equipment for the deaf and hearing-impaired), offers seating for 350 spectators. Although mainstream cinema remains the its primary vocation, the Ciné-Théatre also hosts film theme weeks, concerts, and other performances. As a municipal social hall, its mission is to build relationships with the public based on a policy of respect for diversity in its offerings, in all of their cultural and artistic dimensions. Its schedule includes many art-house films, foreign productions, films by young directors, and heritage films, and promotes a plurality of forms of expression (fiction, short films, documentaries, experimental films, animation). The Ciné-Théâtre takes active part in annual events such as the FEMi regional and international film festival, and the Terra environmental film festival. It communicates regularly with the public, and offers affordable prices.
