Rambouillet Cross

Monument - Port-Louis

Located on Rue Achille-René Boisneuf in the Rambouillet quarter, traditionally a fishing district, the cross was erected in 1865, two years after the terrible cholera epidemic. Every time a hurricane knocks it down, it is repaired and put back up with the help of contributions from the local congregation. Although situated at the end of this long seaside road, it is still frequently visited and has become a familiar and essential piece of Port-Louis heritage.
