Monument - La Désirade

Cotton plantations were first established on the island in the second half of the 18th century, and a few remain today. This cotton mill launched operations in 1918, closing soon thereafter in 1922. Its product was shipped by boat from a small cove below the facility. Visitors to the site will find the ruins of factory buildings, a production workshop, and furnace. A must-see tourist attraction on the way to the old weather station.
