Landscape - Le Gosier

This 140-km2 area of small hills and valleys is shared by the communes of Le Gosier, Sainte-Anne, Le Moule, Les Abymes, and Morne-à-l'Eau. It boasts an exceptional topography found nowhere else, except for certain areas of China and Jamaica. Climate conditions vary greatly depending on whether visitors find themselves at the top of a crest or at the bottom of shallow area, where there are often ponds and rare flora species such as the Balisier flower (Creole name: “zié a krab”) and the sharp-spined grugru palm tree. Grands Fonds constitutes 90% of the area of the commune and offers spectacular views of neighboring Le Gosier Islet and the islands of Marie-Galante and Dominica.
