Great Cove Beach

Beach - Trois-Rivières

This long beach of black volcanic sand is supplied with lovely huts. Located where the river empties into the sea, it is the largest cove on mainland Guadeloupe. Its tall, unfurling waves and magnificent view of Les Saintes make it popular with both locals and visitors, who often come for some well deserved rest and an invigorating swim after a long hike. Long the only safe place to land on the Côte au Vent (windward coast), the cove was defended by many coastal batteries, some still visible today on the rocky spurs that surround it.
