All round view - La Désirade

This rocky outcropping, battered by breakers and bathed in spray, offers a limitless view of the ocean. Pointe des Châteaux (“Castle Point”) may be seen in the distance.  A cross has been erected here, inviting visitors to remember the sailors who brave the ocean’s fury each day. Pointe de Colibris is another good place for divers in the know, offering dive two dive spots:  the Grotte aux Requins (“Shark Cave”), featuring nurse and reef sharks, along with tortoises and eagle rays; and Chaos dive spot (in the area known as La Tranchée aux Canons—“Cannon Trench”), featuring the remains of shipwrecks and some very large fish.
