Partially built on a mangrove swamp at a time when hundreds of hectares of Guadeloupe forest land were being cleared to make way for the construction of homes and commercial buildings, this site is one of the commune’s primary tourist hubs. The casino, along with many shops and restaurants, ensure that this section of the road, leading out of the town center to Grand Baie lagoon, is always busy. The resort atmosphere exists in a natural wetland setting where crustaceans, fish, and birds congregate. Each hotel maintains its own beach, open to all for relaxation and water activities of all sorts (pedal boats, kayaks, wind surfing, jet skis, etc.).
