Town Hall

Architecture - Grand-Bourg

Built in 1932 and restored to its original architecture, the Town Hall of Grand-Bourg is one of the only non-religious edifices constructed by Ali Tur to be ornamented with archways. The main façade consists of a central section with three archways and three balconies. A number of crests are displayed, bearing the coats of arms of Guadeloupe and Marie-Galante. Two square towers frame the façade on either side. Inside, note the tiles arranged in a checkerboard pattern, the paneling, and furnishings inspired by Ali Tur. The building also features a beautifully decorated deliberations room.
