Acomat Falls

Waterfall - Pointe-Noire

Located on the Grande Plaine River about two kilometers from the N2, the Acomat Saut (or Acomat Falls) is one of the most remarkable waterfalls on the Basse Terre in Guadeloupe. 9 meters high, the falls fall into a large pool in the middle of the rocks, a real bathtub with emerald green water. The site, easily accessible, is frequented by tourists as by the inhabitants of neighboring municipalities who like to meet here on Sundays for a moment of freshness or in search of thrills for the more intrepid as the pool invites the leap. This beautiful place, however, requires vigilance and caution by visitors. Signs formally prohibit diving in the basin whose bottom hosts boulders. The currents created by the fall can cause swirls with suction phenomenon. It is also not recommended to visit the site during heavy rain, the flood of the river may surprise at any time.
