Maison Chalcou, on Rue du Débarcadère, is among the oldest houses in the town. Homes of this style are typically divided into two parts: the first floor with a business at the front (i.e. facing the street), and at the rear, a courtyard with a well and possibly a garden beyond; the second floor is used as living quarters and usually has a balcony. The louver windows provide the house with natural ventilation.
