The Galleries

Landsape - Capesterre de Marie-Galante

The “Galeries” is a set of “corridors” formed by the erosion of the wave-battered cliffs. As the island continued thrusting upward, these “corridors” eventually found themselves some fifteen meters above the water. The Galeries are accessed directly by a path between the rough rocks, and are an impressive sight. Continuing on the coast road, visitors will arrive at Pavillon well, which once allowed animals to descend to the water table. Today it is equipped with a solar-powered pump.
