Architecture - Lamentin

This facility is used for the celebrations, award ceremonies, ceremonial speeches, and performances that are an integral part of life in this commune, and as a gathering place for local Lamentin citizens and those from other places who wish to attend the many events organized here. In front of the social hall, four casts of the face of former mayor René Toribio are displayed atop spires positioned at the sculpture’s four cardinal points. The vertical spires represent Toribio’s friends and associates; the central spire represents the people. The work is the creation of Michel Rovelas, born in Guadeloupe in 1939.
