1st and 2nd Carbet Waterfalls

Waterfall - Capesterre Belle-Eau

The three Carbet Waterfalls are among the highest in the Lesser Antilles, offering breathtaking natural spectacles. They are also among the most-visited tourist sites in all of Guadeloupe. Accessible only by foot, the cascades fall in three stages on the Grand Carbet River. The First, plunging 115 meters, features rocks that have been turned red-orange by the river’s sulfurous waters. The path leading to this fall, however, is rather steep (allow three and a half hours round trip). The Second Carbet Waterfall falls 110 meters. This is the most picturesque, as well as the most accessible, of the falls (allow 45 minutes round trip from the parking lot). The path is well maintained and appropriate even for those with limited mobility. The area around the Carbet Waterfalls is subject to frequent rock falls; access may be blocked at times for safety reasons.
